Mike O'Sullivan in Tanzania. I visited the new rehabilitation building used to facilitate rehab and therapy for these children suffering from Down's Syndrome, among other illnesses. It is a wonderful facility. There is a woman, Claire, from Ireland, who truly is dedicating her life at the moment to these kids. She is training a couple local women to work with her to help with the therapy. The mothers and other caregivers are there also to assist. I have some pictures of the facility, but having trouble attaching them Below is one that I could attach.

Thanks for your article.

Re: Grace vs. Karma

Grace is amazing gift from God. I understand the Catholic aversion to pornography and I also do realize that the instant availability of online sexual content can sexually rewire a developing mind for the worse but a book who's demographic is middle aged American housewives is hardly the same thing.

Re: Reflections on the Triduum – The Easter Vigil

Send prayers for Bob and our family but no flowers... Not letting the left hand see what the right hand is doing. Doing your penance in secrets for the Father who sees in secret. Don't be a hypocrit or show your good deeds for people to see, etc. Go to church and see rather than reading an article and judging the meaning of the ashes which when placed on your head, you hear 'turn from sin and follow the gospels'.

Re: Should we keep ashes on our forehead all day on Ash Wednesday?

How's going to church and putting ashes on your forehead concidered a "good deed?" I mean isn't going to church a normal several/couple times a week thing? And even at that, your good deeds will not get you into heaven. Read your bible people!!!:) So what if people see you do good deeds, just don't show off thinking it'll get you anywhere,(at least not where it really counts!) Just saying;)

Re: The First Baby “Snowman”

Beautifully written Kathy. You realize that the state of Wisconsin allows wolf hunting at night with lights. The wolf has a special place in Indian tradition and the fact that the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin immediately have opened hunting seasons on this recently protected animal is most upsetting. Even in Minnesota without night hunting the broadcasting of wounded animal sounds and traps are permitted in killing wolves.

There is nothing to negotiate. Treaty rights already exist. They go back almost 200 years. What is disturbing is the continued attempt to act as if those treaty rights do not exist. Indian people do not hunt to put a wolf skin on the wall of their dens, they subsistence hunt deer to put food on the table of their families and elders.

Re: Famous people who were adopted

Thanks for posting this Kathy. The Other Bolyne Girl is not a movie for everyone, but as I point out in my blog "It is sometimes best for me to learn from a poor example rather than a good one." People learn and find their motivation for change (in thinking and in action) from all slices of life and forms of story sharing and Anne's life and times can give us much to think about out own times. For another historical example of the influence of this time on marriage and the church - look for the old PBS version of the Six Wives of Henry the VIII.
